Old Town San Diego & Cabrillo National Monument

It's Spring Break, so Piper, my sister, her boys, my mom, and I went to San Diego and had a yummy lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, Casa Guadalajara, in Old Town.  After lunch we walked around so I could snap some photos of the kids.  Afterwards, we drove up to the lighthouse in Cabrillo.  It was a gorgeous day and the sun finally came out.  I got some cute shots of the kids.  It was an excellent day!  I love vacation!

Papa & Gigi

We visited Papa and Gigi Rios yesterday.  Here are some shots of her with them in the backyard.  It gave me a chance to have more than one subject.  I barely got any shots of Piper though because she moves so fast that the camera loses focus!  I had to bump up the shutter speed just to get any decent shots.

New Lens!

I just got my new lens today in the mail.  I was super excited to try it out, and I have to say it made a huge difference in macro and close-up shots.  I was able to get in closer indoors and use a higher aperture.  Here are two of the pictures I took of Piper outside eating Pringles...she is like me...she can't refuse chips!  The pictures are pretty raw, as I didn't do much post-processing on them, but the natural light really helps.

Lightroom

I am in NO WAY close to being a remotely amateur photographer here....in fact, I just started learning last week how to use our dslr camera in manual mode, but Joe installed Lightroom for me, so I decided to play around with the settings on a picture I took last week of Piper.  It's pretty fun, and it definitely made some positive changes to my faulty photo. 

Piper & Mickey's Clubhouse Friends

Piper set up all her Clubhouse friends on the stairs.  She has them all: Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy.
